Contemporary, Modern Family Sculptures, Traditional Anniversary Gifts and Personalized Family Christmas Ornaments.
This year, celebrate your anniversary or engagement with a contemporary designed Christmas ornament! These ornaments make great gifts for your husband, wife, friend or even your parents. Traditional materials given for 7th anniversary is copper, 8th is bronze, 10th is aluminum, 14th is ivory, 25th is silver and 50th is gold. I have all of these options available in this ornament style! These ornaments are about 5" long and come ready to hang on your tree. Each anniversary ornament is handmade so there will be slight variations compared to the one photographed.
HOW I MADE IT: I sculpted the original design out of clay. Then I made a mold of the original sculptured ornament. Finally, I cold cast the metals or mica powders and finished it by antiquing with wax. I use real metal powder (for the bronze, copper & aluminum ornaments) bonded with resin to create the ornament casting. I finish the ornament by polishing and waxing it. Because it is cold-cast, the ornament is lighter than a solid metal piece which makes it ideal for hanging on a tree.
ABOUT MY DESIGNS: I create Family Christmas Ornaments, Anniversary Plaques and Sculptures all inspired by life, love, and mostly family! One key feature of my family designs is all the figures are connected and become one. I was greatly inspired by the idea of when a couple gets married, two become one. When I began to add children to my designs I continued the theme of connectedness by creating the children around the parents all emerging together.
(Due to the different monitor settings, actual colors my vary.)
Our mission is to create sculptures that you connect with and will always remind you of a special time in you and your family's life.
Elizabeth Bonura
Sculptor
My artwork is inspired by life, love, and above all, family. After getting engaged, I was greatly inspired by the idea that when a couple gets married two become one. This comes to life as the figures I sculpt are formed into a connected image. Once I became a mother, I began to add children to my artwork. This theme of connectedness continues by creating the children around the parents all emerging together.
My original designs are sculpted out of clay. I then make a mold of the clay sculpture. Depending on the size of the sculpture, it will be cold-cast with bronze, aluminum, or copper ("Cold-Casting" is the process of mixing metal powder with a resin to create castings that give the appearance of solid metal) or cast in cement and painted with a bronze metal coating (ground bronze metal suspended in an acrylic binder). Finally, the sculpture is finished by polishing and waxing by hand. This intense finishing process reveals the metal’s shine and highlights the details.
I began sculpting professionally over 20 years ago. In the early 2000s I became famous for my polymer clay portrait sculptures and wedding cake toppers. The five-foot life-size "bride’s cake" (where the polymer-clay-sculpted head and shoulders emerged from a six tiered cake) brought me international acclaim! My work has appeared on CNN, Inside Edition, countless news stories and in Inside Weekly Magazine. I have appeared on HGTV's That's Clever!, and my art dolls have been published in several national magazines. Currently, I have sculptures on display in the Georgetown Sculpture Tour, the Cedar Park Sculpture Garden and in the Bee Cave Sculpture Park.
